It’s officially fall, and probably our favorite time of year!

Halloween, cool weather, crunchy leaves and pumpkin flavored everything. It’s all right up our alley!

We also love a good pumpkin patch.

Wargo’s Pumpkin patch is a new place to go for free fall family fun.

Corey and Monica Wargofcak live on the family farm that has been passed down through generations.

They always wanted a fun place to take their kids in the fall to celebrate the autumn season.

As a service to the community, they decided to open their property to visitors each October.

The endeavor begins as a family affair way before the air gets that telltale crisp.

In early June, the family sows a variety of pumpkin seeds in their fields.

They pumpkins are tended until early October when they are harvested.

This is a labor-intensive process as it is all done by hand.

In addition to a large variety of pumpkins, Wargo’s offers a range of delicious fair food and fun activities for the kids like painting, a small petting zoo and hayrides.

The animals in the petting zoo are the family’s goats and chickens. Monica laughs as she describes to us how friendly the chickens are. Apparently, they get lots of love from the Wargofcak kids and they eat up the attention.

For those who can’t get enough of local markets, there will also be handmade items for sale from local artisans and crafters.

We were excited to see Adam’s Honey had a booth. This is an award winning local honey brand we had never heard of, but are excited to try out.

Wargo’s is open every weekend of October and admission, parking, hayrides, painting and the petting zoo are all completely free.

The pumpkins are all for sale, but the Wargofcak's choose a different charity each year and donate the proceeds.

We love the Wargo’s Pumpkin Patch t-shirts that feature the original artwork seen on the signs. These will be for sale alongside the arts and crafts.

Luthersville is a short drive from Newnan and the Wargo’s signs are everywhere showing the way to the farm.

One year ago, we decided to start a blog to feature all the places we love to go in and around Coweta County. Susan is a full time photographer and Rebekah is a freelance writer. We originally started this blog as a fun, pressure free outlet for our writing and photography skills. It was a good way to get past writers block and take photography skills in new directions. We were sure that we would just put blog posts out into the spacious Internet void and that would be it.

Much to our surprise, people regularly read and enjoy our weekly explorations of Coweta County. Through this blog, we have met so many amazing Coweta entrepreneurs with inspirational stories! We have been introduced to great businesses that we can't believe we didn't know about.

It's been a great year! Thank you to all our regular readers and the great Coweta businesses that have graciously invited us to peek into their everyday lives. We'll see you next week!

Handcrafted in Coweta - Paperlark Studio

Happy 2015! We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season! Ours was a whirlwind of joyous chaos and we are happy to be back to normal life. This week, we are excited to bring you a profile of another amazing Coweta artist and a look behind the scenes of her business.

Regulars to Market Day on the square of downtown Newnan may be familiar with Paperlark Studio. Paperlark offers beautiful greeting cards, invitations, tote bags and tea towels. Miranda Winslett, the owner and designer, invited us into her home studio to get an inside look into her creative process.

We were warmly greeted at the door by Miranda and Bella, her sweet poodle mix who she introduced to us as her lazy coworker.

Miranda’s eye for mixing colors and patterns is evident as soon as you walk into her studio. The pale pink walls are decorated with prints of Miranda’s favorite quotes and swatches of brightly colored fabric displayed in embroidery hoops.

The small studio is neatly organized and brimming with Paperlark products.

We love Miranda’s aesthetic. Her products combine flowery fonts with bold graphics and charming prints.

We particularly love her South Mouth collection, which features sayings from Miranda’s southern grandmother over a silhouette of the state of Georgia.

We were surprised to learn that Miranda’s background is actually in journalism.

She put her journalism degree from Georgia State University to work at a Covington, Georgia newspaper.

Here, she learned the foundations that would later help her in starting her own business. Sales, public relations, social media, writing and marketing have all helped her make her business into a successful one.

Miranda’s love for design began at a young age. She started sewing early and she has always loved the creativity that comes with making a scrapbook.

Working with paper in all different forms has always been a passion.

Her love of working with paper products lead her to create invitations for her family and friends. Those first invitations got such positive reviews that she decided to start selling them.

She opened her Paperlark store on Etsy and found that her creative designs were popular.

In May 2014, she was able to leave her part time job to pursue her Paperlark dreams full time.

She loves the evolving nature of her business. She is constantly refining her products based on customer input and her evolving sensibilities.

She says that she learns something new with every experience that adds to her creative process. Inspiration can strike anywhere and often does.

She laughingly told us of how sometimes she is stopped short by a particular pattern or color that catches her eye and she must take a photo. She uses these photos to inspire new designs.

Her talent for combining colors and patterns with fresh, and often sassy, maxims is what makes her products unique.

The texts on her bags, cards and tea towels made us laugh. She loves to take old sayings and put a new and funny twist on them to make original quotes.

Working daily with paper has not put a damper on her love for stationery. She is still obsessed with scrap booking and loves to buy stationery from other artists.

It is very important to Miranda to invest in the future of the planet through the use of eco friendly materials for her products.

She uses post consumer recycled Kraft paper for her cards and digitally prints her totes and tea towels. This method of printing leaves no harmful byproducts and produces a higher quality print on fabric.

Her family is integrally involved in her business. Each new idea she has is workshopped through them before she makes it available in her store.

Miranda has just started doing craft shows and fairs. In addition to market day, she has also began offering her products at annual shows.

Her next project for 2015 is to expand her line into wedding invitations, programs and escort cards. You can keep up with her new products and get paper crafting advice and tutorials on her blog.

Coweta Events - Taste of Newnan Fall 2014 - Newnan

In case regular readers haven’t noticed, we love Coweta’s local restaurants! The chain restaurants we have here tend to be the big box kind that serve microwaved frozen meals. In our experience, the local restaurants tend to serve dishes that use fresh, and many times local, ingredients prepared from scratch.

The Taste of Newnan is a biannual event that allows restaurants from all over the area to showcase the type of foods they offer.

The downtown Newnan Square is closed off for the night to allow tents to be set up on the sidewalk. It’s a fun street fair with tons of food, live music and even a few carnival rides for the kids.

Every corner of the square has a booth that sells the tickets that are used as the Taste of Newnan currency. Each ticket is one dollar, and most vendors charge one or two tickets for a generous portion of food.

It’s the perfect risk free way to try a new restaurant!

The Taste of Newnan always attracts fairly large crowds. We really love the festive atmosphere of the cooking food, milling crowds, happy people and playing children.

The day could not have been more perfect for an outdoor event! It was crisp autumn weather with lots of sunshine. We ate far too much of our favorite foods from local Newnan restaurants.

Pita by Beirut was serving delicious hummus, gyros and baklava.

At one point, we saw a man pushing a cart with candied and caramel apples. We followed him to the Goldens On The Square tent.

We were very happy with the results of our stalking! We had several people stop us to ask where they could get their own candy apple.

Meat 'N Greet, among our favorite restaurants in downtown Newnan, had one of the most popular tents on the block.

We managed to snag a pork slider before the lines got too long!

Fabiano’s was quite popular as well. They had huge stacks of cheese and pepperoni pizza.

Much to our delight, Leaf and Bean had a cart where they were serving freshly brewed coffee, tea and mini muffins!

Nothing goes better with a cup of Leaf and Bean coffee than doughnuts! Our favorite part of Main Street Newnan events are the doughnuts.

Your Chef To Go, a local catering company, makes these perfect little doughnuts from scratch right in their tent. They smother them in cinnamon and sugar and hand them to you hot off the fryer. They are absolutely amazing!

We have never been to Ten East Washington, but they had some very tasty cold salads.

By the time we got to Let Them Eat Toffee, we had just enough room for some chocolate and King of Pops!

We were sad that we missed out on eating one of Twisted Peelz’ tasty patties, but we had absolutely no more room!

No Newnan event is complete until Mr. Personality makes an appearance. We were excited to spot him with his rose and dressed in all his autumn finery.

We also spotted a zombie making his way through the crowd, though we didn’t see any restaurants serving brains.

As the night fell, the live music started to ramp up and more people showed up. We were excited to welcome some of our friends from Atlanta and LaGrange. We enjoyed introducing them to the Taste of Newnan.

People were gathered around the band enjoying their food and the beautiful night.

We had so much fun and can’t wait until the next one!

The Taste of Newnan is held twice every year in the spring and fall.

The next one will be in the spring of 2015. They are always looking for volunteers to help with the Taste of Newnan.
