Every first Saturday of the month downtown Newnan comes to life with a variety of sights and smells to please the senses.
Artists, farmers, bakers and makers of all kinds display their colorful wares.
We always enjoy walking around the square on market day and shopping from local sellers. We love knowing that the items we buy were made right here in Georgia.
This month, market day fell on a warm, pleasant September morning.
The atmosphere is always festive as people mill around chatting and admiring the creativity surrounding them.
There are always lots of samples and plenty of great food
One of our favorite market day treats that we look forward to all month are the amazing donuts. They are made to order in small, fresh batches and immediately dipped in a cinnamon sugar mix. We are completely addicted.
There is also a vendor selling freshly squeezed lemonade that is made by the cup. It’s a perfect tartly sweet refreshing treat.
If you don’t come with an appetite, there are plenty of people selling to-go treats. There are always a variety of freshly baked goods and canned sauces and preserves.
We also enjoy stumbling onto one of a kind whimsical items like these reindeer handmade from local wood.
We love when an artist creatively repurposes items that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
We find that this is a great event to pick up unique, locally made gifts.
We took a break from shopping and snacking to enjoy the music.
There will be three more market days on the first Saturday of October, November and December.
After a break for the cold weather at the beginning of the year, market day resumes in April.
