We have a problem. We are addicted to smoothies. That is one of the reasons we were excited to find out about a local restaurant that makes smoothies from scratch with fresh ingredients.
Twisted Peelz is a colorful Caribbean inspired restaurant serving primarily savory Jamaican patties and fresh smoothies.
We tried two of the eight patty flavors on the menu.
The spinach and cheese patty was perfect. Inside the crisp patty crust, the creaminess of the melted cheese combined well with the shredded spinach, and it had just the perfect amount of spices to give it a little heat.
The jerk chicken patty had a flaky crust with an inviting golden color. Inside was savory ground jerk chicken. The tangy filling was a bit spicier than the spinach patty, but just as delicious.
Twisted Peelz also offers coco bread so you can eat your patty stuffed in the bread in the traditional Jamaican way.
Our fresh fruit smoothies came in generous portions that we had a hard time finishing.
There are several different smoothie flavors available and each one can be customized with protein or a nutritional boost. The gold rush smoothie was a blend of tropical fruits and yogurt.
It was creamy and refreshing, the perfect drink for a hot August day.
We also tried the purple zest smoothie. The mixed berries and cherries gave this smoothie a robust, juicy flavor. The cool, flavorful smoothies were the perfect compliment to the warm, savory patties.
When ordering, we were offered samples of a new frozen popcorn product that Twisted Peelz has just started carrying.
This novel frozen treat turned out to be delicious and we had to buy a bag of the citrus dream, a white chocolate caramel confection with a light orange flavor.
We love the cozy atmosphere of Twisted Peelz with its bright mango walls and colorful mismatched café furniture. As smoothie connoisseurs, we do not believe you can find a better smoothie in town.
