There is something poetic about the way the ocean turns what was once trash into a beautiful, gem-like object. Sea Glass Therapy takes their name from this colorful polished glass that can be found washed up on the beaches of the world.
Jennifer Yaeger has been a counselor for eighteen years. As she became more experienced, she realized there was something missing from talk therapy. There was a lack of mind body connection that can assist in healing those affected by trauma.
When Jennifer moved to Newnan two years ago, she never expected that she would open her own practice. The idea was something she thought may eventually happen in the distant future.
It all seemed to come together in an organic way. When a building that held a family connection opened up in downtown Newnan, Jennifer jumped at the chance to make it into a safe space where people could come to heal from trauma.
Sea Glass Therapy is a therapeutic center where you can focus on your mind, body and spirit. It is designed to be a place that offers every facet that a person needs to take care of themselves, heal, and grow.
Rachel Murell is a talented yoga instructor whose hands on style addresses the connection between mind and body. She works with clients to reduce stress, anxiety and depression through body movements. Her small class sizes allow her to give each client individualized attention.
Rachel also provides nutrition and wellness services to clients. She can work with specialized diets to find a healthy nutritional balance.
Tanya Petty provides healing to clients through therapeutic massage. She has had great success helping those with chronic pain. Her massage techniques give a medication free pain relief option to those dealing with chronic pain.
Elizabeth, Jennifer’s sister, is the resident personal style coach. She is passionate about helping Sea Glass clients feel as good about their outward appearance as they do their inward selves. She can asses your wardrobe and help you create cohesive outfits from the clothes, shoes and jewelry you already own.
She is also the designer and creator of the beautiful sea glass jewelry that is available for purchase. Clients often want a souvenir that reflects the inner healing they have done, and sea glass beautifully captures the inner journey they have taken.
Sea Glass Therapy also offers group therapy, art therapy and meditation sessions. Clients can choose to utilize some of the services and classes or they can participate in all of them.
The goal of the Sea Glass team is to make the individual feel healthier in all aspects of their lives, and it seems to be working. Jennifer says that clients have reported better quality sleep, less anxiety and greater calm and contentment throughout the day.
