July in Georgia means sticky, humid days where you feel you need a shower as soon as you step out of the air conditioning. Imagine having fur. Our dogs can quickly get really smelly around this time of year.

U Dirty Dog is our favorite place to take our dogs for a bath.

Trying to wrangle our dogs at home in the tub is just more trouble than it is worth. There have been one too many incidents of a wet, soapy dog escaping from the bathroom and bounding joyously around the house leaving wet paw prints everywhere. U Dirty Dog provides a self service dog wash that makes bath time easy.

We brought Rawlings to U Dirty Dog for a much overdue bath. He is not a fan of baths. In fact, it is impossible to bathe him at home. He doesn’t like U Dirty Dog as much as we do. He knows exactly what’s about to happen as soon as we pull into the parking lot.

All you have to bring to U Dirty Dog is your leashed pet. They provide everything you need to bathe your dog. You can also bring your own supplies if you have special shampoo or conditioner.

The self service section of U Dirty Dog has a row of stainless steel tubs that are waist high  for easy access. Each station has a ramp that pulls out so you can walk your puppy into the tub. There are waterproof aprons to protect your clothes.

In each tub there is a short tether to safely and comfortably secure your dog while you bathe him. We definitely need this for Rawlings, as he tends to be wiggly in the tub. As soon as the water starts streaming over him he calms down and let you wash him. He occasionally loves to shake water all over the place.

U Dirty Dog also offers grooming services where you can drop your dog off and pick them up later when they are all squeaky clean.

After we washed and conditioned Rawlings, we took him to a drying station.

These are directly opposite from the tubs. There is a portable set of stairs that make it easy to get your dog up on the table.

Each table has a dryer and a set of brushes and combs.

Rawlings doesn’t like the loud noise the dryer makes, so we try to get the drying done as quickly as possible.

We love that they will trim your dog’s claws. We had them take some length off Rawling's nails with a dremel. They were very gentle and patient when handling him.

Next door to the salon portion of U Dirty Dog is a room full of treats, dog food and dog accessories for sale. The dogs love to pick out their own treats after their bath.

U Dirty Dog has long hours for those who work normal business hours. In addition to grooming services, they offer pet boarding and day care. They also have monthly or yearly passes that offer a discount on the self service grooming. You can visit their Facebook page or website for more information. Rawlings was happy to run out the door to the car and we were happy to have a fresh smelling dog.
